The University of Rhode Island honored student leaders at its 25th annual A. Robert Rainville Leadership Awards. Four highly competitive awards are presented by the URI Office of Student Involvement to students who have shown exemplary leadership and teamwork skills while maintaining good academic standing. Students are nominated by faculty, staff, and fellow students.

The University of Rhode Island's Black Scholar Awards program honored this year's Rhode Island Onyx Senior Honor Society inductees based on their academic excellence, community service, and cultural pride.

The University of Rhode Island has announced the recipients of its 10 Black Scholar Awards, who were also inducted into the Rhode Island Onyx Senior Honor Society.

URI Theatre students are making a big tadoo about William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. This production features several stellar graduating seniors who have dazzled audiences for most of tenure on the Kingston Campus. In fact, two of URI's top performers, Olivia Khoshatefeh and Andrew Burnap will bring the verbal sparring of the Bard's top characters to stage before they leave for their graduate studies at Brown and Yale universities respectively.

The students represent nearly all of Rhode Island's cities and towns, all six New England states, New York and New Jersey, and many other states and nations. To be included on the Dean's List, students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 credits with a 3.30 quality point average. The following local students have been named to URI's Spring 2012 Dean's List:
