More than 6,800 University of Rhode Island students named to Spring 2024 Dean's List

The University of Rhode Island is pleased to announce the Spring 2024 Dean's List. Students named to the Dean's List represent nearly all of Rhode Island's cities and towns, all six New England states, New York and New Jersey, and many other states and countries. To be included on the Dean's List, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades which are GPA applicable during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 or more credits for letter grades which are GPA applicable earning at least a 3.30 quality point average.

The University of Rhode Island is pleased to announce its Fall 2024 Dean's List. The University of Rhode Island celebrated more than 4,000 of its newest alumni during the University's 136th Commencement. Close to 3,600 undergraduate degrees and more than 800 graduate degrees were conveyed to students during the ceremonies which took place May 20-22, 2022.

The University of Rhode Island celebrated more than 4,100 of its newest alumni during the University's 2024 Commencement. Nearly 4,000 undergraduate degrees and 800 graduate degrees were conveyed to students during the ceremonies which took place May 17-19, 2024.

The University of Rhode Island celebrated more than 4,000 of its newest alumni during the University's 135th Commencement. More than 3,700 undergraduate degrees and 680 graduate degrees were conveyed to students during nine individual ceremonies held over three days, May 21-23, 2021.

URI announces Class of 2022 Academic Excellence Award winners

Each year, the University of Rhode Island honors graduating seniors for their superior academic achievement with a University Academic Excellence Award. Their selection is based on grade point average, as well as other criteria determined by their individual academic departments. For example, criteria might include an honors project, a research presentation, or a student's professional promise. Each recipient receives a certificate of student excellence and a University of Rhode Island medallion.

Twenty-one URI seniors inducted into Rhode Island Onyx Senior Honor Society

Twenty-one University of Rhode Island graduating seniors were inducted into the Rhode Island Onyx Senior Honor Society as part of the University's 24th annual Black Scholar Awards. The annual induction ceremony honors graduating seniors of African descent who achieve 3.30 or higher grade point averages. Established in 1998 by Donald Cunnigen, URI professor of sociology and anthropology, the annual Black Scholar Awards program recognizes African-American students for their outstanding achievements in leadership, community involvement, academic achievement, and athletic achievement. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, students receiving awards were honored during a virtual ceremony coordinated by Earl N. Smith, III, assistant dean of student affairs for the College of Arts and Sciences; Christopher Hunter, associate professor of civil engineering; and Yvette Harps Logan, retired associate professor of textiles, fashion merchandising and design.
