The goal of URI's orientation program is to welcome new students and their families to the URI community and to start them along a path to success. The Orientation Team represents URI's diverse and enthusiastic community of learners.

Each year, the University of Rhode Island honors graduating seniors for their superior academic achievement. Their selection is based on grade point average, as well as other criteria determined by their individual academic departments. For example, criteria might include an honors project, a research presentation, or a student's professional promise.

The University of Rhode Island honored four undergraduate student leaders at the 28th annual A. Robert Rainville Leadership Awards ceremony recently held on the Kingston Campus.

The second annual student-created and led conference took place at the University of Rhode Island's Kingston Campus March 4-5, 2016. Called "Diversifying Individuals Via Education" (D.I.V.E. RI), this event is focused on enhancing student leadership and social change on college campuses.

URI 101 Mentors play an influential role helping first-year students in their transition to college. Mentors create effective and comfortable partnerships with instructors and become resourceful team leaders for all students.

The first student-created and led regional conference took place at the University of Rhode Island in the spring. Called "Diversifying Individuals Via Education" (D.I.V.E. RI), this event focused on enhancing student leadership and social change on college campuses.

Last month, a team of URI public relations students fought global childhood malnutrition, by spreading the word and raising money for Edesia with the #MakeYourGreenCount Plumpy'Nut Challenge. This was a social media campaign encouraging people to "get their green on" and donate by St. Patrick's Day. The students raised more than $4,800 to help children worldwide.

Presented by the URI Office of Student Involvement, the Rainville Awards are given to students who have shown exemplary leadership and teamwork skills while maintaining a strong academic standing.
